SPIROFLOW LAUNCHES TOTAL PEANUT HANDLING SOLUTIONS IN EUROPE

Spiroflow a leading manufacturer of conveying, bulk handling and weighing systems for companies across the world, has announced the European introduction of an innovative new conveying solution that effectively provides a ‘one stop’ total peanut handling system to food processors.

The launch, a key element of the company’s 2015 marketing strategy, signals a new era in peanut handling in the UK and EU. Nuts and seeds are particularly challenging to food manufacturers as they can be very fragile and easily damaged in the transportation and production process. Bagged snack applications in particular require that the nuts remain whole during handling.

Spiroflow has pioneered two highly efficient peanut handling solutions: Cableflow™ cable drag conveyors and Aeroflow™ aeromechanical conveyors, suitable for varied applications depending on delivery speed and volume requirements. Peanut butter processing, for example, would be best served by the Aeroflow™ system which can convey at higher speeds of up to 10,000kg per hour, both horizontally and vertically, with minor degradation. While the Cableflow™ is better suited to applications that require whole nuts with virtually zero degradation leaving the nuts intact and aesthetically appealing to customers.

The conveyors are ideal for use in conjunction with one of Spiroflow’s bulk bag dischargers to bring together not only the volume delivery of peanuts but also salt stabilisers and any other minor/major ingredients. It’s vital for manufacturers to avoid forming any lumps and to prevent moisture ingress, especially with salt and other hygroscopic ingredients as these must be perfectly proportioned and distributed for all applications. Spiroflow’s flexible screw conveyor is the ideal solution for salt conveying, working seamlessly in conjunction with the other systems to provide a fully automated total solution that is particularly suited to peanut butter production.
