Dear Xperts,

I am studying the operation of airlift, can anyone tell me the operating parameter with the principle of working for a typical airlift.

Air Lifts

Air lifts are designed on the basis of fluidization. Bed air velocity is controlled so that it is somewhat above the minimum fluidization velocity. Equations for calculating this velocity are given in published literature. Bed pressure drop is then calculated based on the vertical height of the bed, air velocity, and properties of the bulk solid. Total air flow is based on the velocity and the horizontal area of the bed.

Thanks Mr. Amrit.

I do need some more clarification over the bed air velocity. Also can u explain me the velocity deciding the total air flow.
