When pulleys are crowned, the slope of a taper is usually about 1%.

This tapered or crown is used to aid belt tracking, not to increase friction.

You must use another method to increase friction or eliminate slippage.

Crowned pulleys that we fabricate have a difference in diameter between 2 and 6 (8) mm. In case of steel cord belting please check with the belt manufacturer that no additional stresses are occured. As Mr. Nordell stated, crowned pulleys are used to help keeping the belt tracking and not to increase friction. In my opinion all these activities to keep the belt in the centre are secondary. Try to find the cause that the belt is not running as it should, and carry out primary activities, such as improving the feeding zone of the conveyor.
