I see here that many are doubtful about the prices that are being offered on the market.

Has any experience about this? What are risks? What is the gains of these guys offering cement at price they can not offer it on? You are issuing bg / LC that are only effective if the products are being delivered. What is really there gain?

I am looking for cement, i have been trying to get price and simple information if they at all can delver to my location. I have never before been asked for bank information before I am even given prices and confirmation that the products can be delivered.

I have also asked to get some simple information like to visit to get quality inspection and get example to European standard association for check. ■

I ask my self what is in it for people that offer me products that they don't have or can not offer. Can some please explain what the gain is? They will never get any money untill the product is delivered.

The first question I am asked for BCL and LOI as you see in these messages. It is not even possible to get price qoute before that these papers are issued.

As is said in these mail almost every one states that you are not allowed to visit the factory or get qoulity check untill after the arrangement. This sounds all very strange to me.

No one can confirm that that there are scams going on and the horror stories about people abandoning contracts.

If any one has experience about this please let me know. ■

i have the same problem. we need to buy opc on 2 years contract, and it seems there are not enough cement to go around. so i don't know how these traders promise to deliver it in huge qty.

it is giving me a big headache to get the cement, and the client ( a government !) is becoming anxious.. will see if i ever get anything !

Buying cement from Ukraine (Debunking the myths)

Recently, we`ve been contacted by hundreds of entrepreneurs from the EU and North America, who want to import cement from Ukraine. They say that saw lots of advertisements all over the internet to export cement from Ukraine in unlimited quantities. Because we have very good relations with Ukrainian cement plants and know this market, we decided to debunk some myths and reveal the truth on Ukrainian cement market.

1 Myth: Ukraine is a cement-rich and cement exporting country.

Truth: Cement and steel are the most widely used products in construction. There are 21 cement plants in Ukraine with annual capacity of about 27 million tons of cement per year. All plants are owned by a few powerful international industrial groups: 2 powerful globally well-known German groups control about 60% of the market, Ukrainian producers – around 20%, Russian – 10%, French – 5%, Irish – 5%. All of them are working internally and very rarely export it and only to neighboring states.

2 Myth: We can easily export million tons of cement from Ukraine.

Truth: The biggest Ukrainian cement plant produces around 2 million tons of cement per year. If you see an advertisement that someone can export a few millions of tons of cement from Ukraine – for sure this is a fraud. Stay away from these people.

3 Myth: Ukrainian cement is very cheap.

Truth: Because of the booming construction in Ukraine (demand greatly exceeds offer) the internal market’s price considerably rose. Currently it is around 100 USD internally!

Conclusion. Theoretically, export of cement from Ukraine is possible, but by Ukrainian cement producing plants and only to neighboring states, like Russia, Byelorussia, Poland. As a matter of fact, export of cement from Ukraine is a myth, because of the booming construction in Ukraine (demand greatly exceeds offer) the internal market’s price is very lucrative and no one wants to spend time and money for costly export procedures to foreign countries. ■

I called up some factories in Ukranie, but all of them gave me the information that they were not exporting!

Again this sounds all very strange. ■

It is just question about logistics. The chinese have in general only been able to sell us FOB, but not CIF. I would be happy to deal with the Chinese if they could supply on good price in Baku. ■

everybody is speaking highly about all the cement they have at uncredible prices, still i have to see the first one that actually could say and proove they supplied it.

Well , i can say i have european cement 42.5R ex-factory, but only a rather small quantity 25000 T/month for 3-5 month's(compared to the huge quantity's that are offered) but it can be loaded in bulk in principle from tomorrow for 97$ ex-factory or 112 $/T DAF Belorussian border (by train in loads of 2300T per day). Price is maybe higher but at least it is real. ■
