ROTEX EUROPE is enhancing its commitment to the food industry, by offering upgrades on its traditional GP screeners in order to meet new health & safety legislation.

After Market Manager Christian Exsteyl explains: “Twenty years ago most of our screeners were manufactured from wood for industries such as sugar, rice, rubber, meat meal and pet food. New hygiene regulations governing the food and associated industries require all parts in contact with material to be replaced with metal, so we are offering to upgrade existing equipment as a cost-effective alternative. Many customers have taken up this offer already and are finding there are numerous benefits to the upgraded equipment in terms of operational efficiency, greatly simplifying maintenance, and reducing downtime. By upgrading existing equipment, customers are saved the expense of investing in brand new screening equipment, but are still able to meet hygiene requirements”.

The conversion of GP equipment normally involves replacing the top cover, screen frames and bottom pan with new metal components. Aluminium is the most popular choice, because of its lightweight properties, but mild and stainless steel are also alternatives. Prices vary according to the model, number of replaced components and material used. ROTEX Engineers are available for advice about the best material to use for specific applications.

Automatic tensioning frames feature a patented design for attaching screen clothing to unitised frames with quick-snap spring tension clips. The clips permit quick removal and replacement of screen clothing and ensure constant, uniform tension across the entire screen surface for superior screening, reduced screen blinding and longer screen life.

With a one-piece design, the automatic tensioning screen frames are easy to assemble, clean and maintain, greatly simplifying maintenance, reducing downtime and eliminating the need for spare screen frames.

Automatic tensioning frames feature a totally enclosed design with a continuous, one-piece seal and a grooved lip that holds the seal tightly against the frame. The wider, more compliant seal provides a tight seal between the surfaces and won't pull away from the frame during regular maintenance, providing improved sealing and longer seal life.

With the newly designed frame, a simple, one-time adjustment of the patented roller and bumper system ensures proper location of the screen frame - even after repeated screen frames changes. No sieve jacks or additional adjustments are required, and no tools are needed to remove or re-install the screen frame.
