Bucket Elevators.

I invite comments from all the distinguished users of this forum.

Two Bucket Elevators with exactly the same specifications and parameters differing only in type of chain - One employing Link-Plate chain and the other round link chain .

Which will outdo the other in terms of service life and availability factor ?

I will appreciate feedback from users with practical experience.

I know Round Link Chain (as from RUD, HEKO, PEWAG etc), but could you expand on what you mean by "Link Plate Chain", maybe with a reference to a suppliers web page for clarification.

Link-Plate chain means the chain with pin-bush-roller and suitable attachments for bucket mounting.

Dear Sir ,

sorry but it is not possible to give a general statement for all applications of bucket elevators.

There are too many parameters influence the best choise for a chain.

- material

- total height

- speed

- temperature

- requiered capacity

All chaintypes have there advantages.

Link plate chain today mostly used as a central chain.

If you want to have assistance contact chain producers with your

parameters .

Kind regards

Interesting topic.

My experience says that linkplate chain elevators are rugged with lesser maintenance over the years. They can handle higher capacities than round link chain and are inherently tough.Ease of bucket mounting.

I have seen trouble free elevators woking in dismal conditoins for the past 15 years .

linkplate chain for sure except certain applications.

Dear Shri Baiju Joshi,

It is not feasible to give a general statement about the merit of the link plate chain or round link chain, for elevator.

As I know, link plate chain has been more used in India, for elevator. But this does not signify the merit. This situation can be attributed to the practice adopted at the early stage .
