PLEASE TO ADVICE ME THE EFFECT BY CHANGING ELBOW ON OUR PIPING DESIGN AND WHICH FROM BOTH DESIGN IS THE BEST. BECAUSE ACCORDING TO MY THEORY, CALCULATION OPT. 2 IS THE BEST.

OPTION 1,

SINGLE ELBOW WITH 90 DEGREES ANGLE

OPTION 2,

DOUBLE ELBOW WITH BOTH ANGLE IS 135 DEGREES

There used to be a written law in pneumatic conveying books which said that lines should be vertical or horizontal. That sort of kicks 45 degree bends into touch but I await more enlightened confirmation, or otherwise.

Not that there's anything wrong with fruitless calculation, given time.

Dear louispanjang,

This thread is posted under the chapter “Hydraulic conveying”.

Your answer is related to “pneumatic conveying”.

Although, the subject of slope pipelines in pneumatic conveying is an interesting one.

But in an other chapter.

take care

Quite right. Thanks.

So; 45 degrees should be a better choice in hydraulic conveying because it allows a better angle of repose situation when you have to start a stalled line.

Dr Kashul seems to have developed the concept of 'angle of repose' in 2 phase pipelines & it is a good step forward in the subject. Check his posts.
