Could someone please advise on acceptable tolerances for the rails of an inclined skip hoist with an angle of 12 degrees to vertical. Vertical lift is 38 metres and speed is 0.35m/sec. The payload is 3000 kg.

Your skiphoist is travelling at a very

slow speed.

The tolerances for the rail are not very critical.

Use the tolerances that are used for overhead

cranes for example.

I would use as follows:

Rail centres +/- 3 mm

Rail level between supports along the rail

length devided by 1000

Rail level between the two rails

span devided by 1000

These tolerances are adequate for the speed

you use.

Kind regards,

Bart
