Bentonite on Indoor Belt Conveyor

Dear Sir

We are modifying an existing mixing building in a pelletizing plant. The process is to feed magnetite, hematite, bentonite, water, NaOH and etc into a mixer.

Due to design reasons we like to convey bentonite on the hematite belt conveyor instead of a screw conveyor. In another words, a belt conveyor is delivering hematite to the mixer and we like that in some point add bentonite to it.

Since the typical conveyor for bentonite is screw conveyor, we wonder if changing it to belt conveyor may cause any problem. Our main concern is dust problems. However, other unpredicted problems might also exist.

Please note that since the hematite is not dry, it may help to prevent dusting.

I wonder if someone has previous experience with bentonite on belt conveyor.

Any advise on the matter is appreciated.

If you have any question, please let me know.

Thank you in advance,

Alireza

P.S. Material characteristics are as follows:

Hematite / Bentonite

Flow rate (tph): 75 / 1.8

Moisture (%): 7 / 1

Grain Size (mm): 0.1 / 0.2
