MINING IN EUROPE

18 - 19 May 2016

Aachen, Germany

Through the innovative and competent merger of the Institutes of Mining Engineering I and III, RWTH Aachen University was able to create new synergies. Following up on the previous successes of the Aachen International Mining Symposia, this year’s AIMS will be the FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on MINING IN EUROPE.

The key objective of AIMS 2016 is to provide a platform for researchers from academic institutions, government agencies, professionals from mining companies, practitioners from consulting companies, equipment suppliers and software providers to share the latest developments on mining activities, developments and research in Europe. The European mining community has confronted and solved challenges ranging from technical to social, environmental and economic issues over the centuries and has thereby delivered important contributions to the use and development of our mineral resources. Initiating a new Conference within the established AIMS series, “Mining in Europe” will be the framework for a series of topics. The conference will include keynote talks, case studies and technical papers as well as an industrial exhibition. An additional objective of AIMS 2016 is to encourage MSc and PhD students to showcase their research to support the next generation of mining professionals. In the planned program, key advances in the following themes will be presented, and contributions are invited to the following topics:

• Mine planning

• Mining technologies

• Resource and ore deposit efficiencies

• Critical raw materials

• Mine water

• Mine closure and post-mining land use

• Other topics

We expect approximately 350 delegates from all over the world, so you can look forward to meeting senior representatives and decision makers of governments, industry, research institutions, investment communities, suppliers of the minerals and mining industry and related fields.

Against the background of the imperial city of Aachen, both the exhibition at the conference venue and the dinner party in the historical Aula Carolina will offer ample opportunity to make new contacts and renew old ones.
