ERIEZ DECLARE HILLHEAD 2005 A MAJOR SUCCESS

Eriez Magnetics Europe, a leading manufacturer of magnetic separation, metal detection and sampling equipment, are able to report on a very dynamic Hillhead 2005: the UK’s leading quarry industry show which took place 21-23 June. A 25% increase in new enquiries was noted in 2005 in comparison to 2003’s event. What is particularly pleasing is that more than 50% of these were brand new contacts, with whom Eriez have not had any previous dealings. On a similarly positive note, Eriez anticipate a commensurate increase in the number and value of orders, with the first order already secured for an Eriez METALARM Underbelt Metal Detector. This metal detector is to be installed at a roof tile manufacturer’s plant to protect vital processing machinery and to help maintain the quality of its roofing products.

An example of an Eriez METALARM Underbelt Metal Detector was shown installed midway between two idler sets on the Eriez stand (P123). It’s a metal detector which has been designed specifically for the aggregate and coal industries to protect secondary or tertiary crushers from large tramp metal. Moreover, its rugged construction makes it ideal for even the most arduous of environments and roughest of applications.

Eriez also demonstrated an alternative type of metal detector: the newly launched Eriez E-Z Tec 9000 RD Metal Detector. This is an aperture or tunnel type metal detector with enhanced sensitivity. It features an innovative design which allows the search head to be split into two parts. This enables a simpler installation on existing conveyors without the need for cutting the conveyor belt. A number of enquiries for this product are currently being followed up.

As was to be expected, however, the majority of enquiries (40%) were registered for the self-cleaning Suspended Permanent Magnet Model CP which was also demonstrated on the stand. This unit has achieved notable success in the minerals extraction and processing industries for protecting valuable crushing and screening equipment against tramp metal damage or simply for removing iron from demolition rubble. Many hundreds of units were sold in 2004 with sales anticipated to increase by 25% in 2005. These magnets have been successful for a number of reasons, not least of which for their robust construction, versatility and value for money.
