I wanted to let you know that Dave Adams from CSA International will be

attending the upcoming ISA 2002 tradeshow in Chicago on October 21-24.

Dave is a Certification Engineer for hazardous locations products, and he

will be presenting a talk on CE Marking and the ATEX Directive on Monday

afternoon (the 21st) during session ISA02-5161.

The ATEX Directive is an EC directive concerning equipment and protective

systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The ATEX

Directive has been "available" in optional form since 1996. However, as of

July 1, 2003, it will supercede all previous European-level directives on

explosion protection.

Dave will also be happy to talk with you about the IEC/Ex Scheme. The IEC/Ex

Scheme is an IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Program. The

scheme aims to facilitate international trade in electronic equipment for

use in explosive atmospheres by eliminating the need to obtain separate

certifications for each member country while preserving the applicable

safety requirements.

If you or someone from your staff is planning to attend the ISA 2002 show,

we hope you will plan to attend Dave's talk or meet with him at the show.

Dave will be available at the CSA booth (Booth #341). He would be happy to

speak with you at the CSA booth, and we can also set up an interview with

him if you're interested.

CSA business leaders will also be at the show, if you wish to discuss other

relevant testing & certification topics such as the current state of the

industry, industry direction or trends, etc.

We hope to see you at the show!

Regards,

Beth Giessel
