AUSTMINE IN FULL SUPPORT OF AIMEX 03

The Chairman of the mining goods and services export association Austmine, Mr. Alan Broome, has come out in full support for the Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) to be staged at Homebush, Sydney in September 2003.

Mr. Broome said that AIMEX provides the ideal platform on which to demonstrate the Australian mining industry’s considerable credentials. “It is important that Australia projects itself to the world as a leader in the area of mining equipment, and technologies. AIMEX is the third largest mining exhibition in the world, and the only one to be held in the Asia Pacific region making the event a very important one for the industry.”

“Austmine attends the other two major mining events; Expomin in Santiago which is focused on South America, and Minexpo in the USA which focuses on North America. Both of these shows address important markets to Australia,” he said.

“In 2003 AIMEX will focus heavily on the Asian markets which are becoming more technologically aware as the mining industries in those countries burgeon. As the Asian market develops, countries in that sector will look towards Australia for mining equipment, technology and know-how. AIMEX provides us with an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities to the Asian countries on a significant scale.”

Mr. Broome said that in addition to the support AIMEX will receive from Austmine is the endorsement of the event by Austrade. “Austrade work closely with Austmine to promote the export of mining intelligence and resources we have in this country. Austrade will be working to bring delegations from throughout Asia to AIMEX ensuring that decision makers in these emerging markets are given every opportunity to discover the Australian industry’s capabilities.”

“The shift in focus for AIMEX 03 to the Asian region has been well received by the industry,” says Mr. Dan Londero, Divisional Director, Reed Exhibitions, organisers of the event. “The support we are receiving from important industry bodies such as Austmine, together with commitments to exhibit by leading mining supply companies including Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Metso Minerals and of course Caterpillar, further reinforces the significance of this event on the international mining calendar.”
