Re: Dust Collector For A Cement Silo

Dear Elijah,

The filter installation on top of a cement silo is based on the air volume of the pneumatic conveying installation that fills the silo.

In addition to that criterion, the length of the pipe line and the volume of the used transfer kettles in relation to the void above the cement in a filled silo have to be considered.

Generally, the filter area in m2 is taken as 2 times the pump displacement in m3/min ( in your case 2 pumps).

The volume of the de-aeration fans in m3/min are then taken as 4 times the pump displacement in m3/min. at a pressure head of approx 450 mmWC.

The created under pressure in the silo forms a buffer volume for a transfer kettle of air when released.

In addition to the filter installation, a safety vent valve has to be installed, set to open under approx. 350 mmWC silo vacuum and opening above approx 400 mmWC silo pressure.

In case of more silos, storing the same cement grade, the filter installations can be coupled through connecting pipes on top of the silo of sufficient diameter.

Set values should match the construction strength of the silo roof.

If you post more details of your installation, a more detailed answer can be given

best regards

teus

Dear Elijah,

Filter on the top of silo is used for ventilation, fan is added for supporting in case you have mechanical conveyor to silo such as screw, belt.

Also you can use small cartridge filter, which have much filter area than bag filter for silo venting, and smaller foot-print.

I can support you if I have more detail.

Thank you and best regards.

Dear Elijah,

if the silo is loaded by a tank truck than the SILOTOP dust collector from WAM ( www.wamgroup.com) is the right solution. If the cement is loaded into the silo by another pneumatic conveying system and they are more than one at the same time, it must be evaluated the total air capacity the filter has to manage.

At WAMGROUP we will be happy to support you in solving your problem.

If you need more info, please email me f.pivett@wam.it
