To each his own on this topic; so you need to read a few articles & decide which suit your applications. eg velocity profile at inlet is generally a product of the inlet piping system. The transition to a tall rectangular inlet is within the cyclone supply. If the cyclone is any good the outlet velocity profile will not be of any consequence, unless there are secondary cyclones which will further complicate the replies that are sure to follow. ■
