Clinker unloading from a truck - Insertable bag collectors

Posted in: , on 2. Jul. 2005 - 00:38

Hello.

We have a lot of dust when we unload clinker from trucks into a hopper.

The hopper is inside a Closing structure where the dust goes through only a face. We plan to close this face of the structure with rubber curtains and to put a insertable bag collector in the own closing structure, discharging all the dust to the hopper.

Do you think that will be a solution for our problem of generation of dust to the exterior?

Does anybody knows someone who uses it to this system in this application?

We are looking for a solution to this.

Let me know what you think about it.

What do you think about insertable bag filters?

Regards

What is the truck type? If it is the normal tipper then you can contain most of the dust by sheeting the load (usually a legal requirement) & then offer your filter plant intake to the tailgate. Your attention should be towards locating the tailgate area by means of kerbs & bunds.

If you use bottom dump trucks then the problem is much greater. There is a very large perimeter to seal & collect from. Dust will settle on the vehicle underside & there might be carryback onto a public highway which is again generally illegal & at least highly inhospitable.

A curtain alone will not contain the dust adequately because the leaving vehicle will displace the curtain which in turn will create an airflow which will generate almost as much dust as you are trying to eliminate.

Remember to keep the curtain clean so that the driver can see where he is reversing to. This will further help to protect the filter collector from collision damage.
