HELP: Continuous plastic products of 4-5 materials with large flow rate

Hello everybody,

I'm new here and I hope i post the thread in the right place...anyway i need some help.

I am a student for mechanical engineering from Tel-Aviv, Israel.

I designing an automation system for dosing and mixing bulk materials for the plastic industry.

It is just a theory project, not to manufacture, and the focus is on the controling and automation and the work with the PLC.

I designing my system for continuous manufacture, it will have 4 or 5 rotary valves feeders for different materials (diameters respectively to use), each one with his own silo and load-cell. the mixing will be in non-motion blender.

the help I need is:

examples of continuous plastic products of 4-5 different bulk materials and large rate of flow (500 kg/hour to 10 ton/hour for each).

the work is theory so the products also can be more or less theory and not exactly real recipe...

Big thanks in advance, best regards and happy new year!

Hello Rubins,

For a particular plastic product, you may be requiring exact proportion of material A, B, C, D and E by weights.

Most likely you will have 5 storage hoppers, one for each material. Under each of this hopper you will require one feeder (say rotary valve feeder).

Each of this feeder, can discharge into a weighing receptacle, one at a time. You can have a cumulative weighing or weighing one by one. The weighing receptacle can discharge in to a mixture if you wish to have thorough mixing with very small batch size (batch size in conjunction with desired composition, with respect to minimum quantity of the mixed material). The material so composed can be stored into subsequent hopper and thereafter the same can be conveyed to the process unit.

For actual project one needs to refer to the experts specifically working for such process plants.

Thanks a lot for response, Ishwar G Mulani.

I have under every hopper his own load-cell, so the dosing is parallel and not one at the time...

i just not have enough information of continuous plastic products or recipes...

what is the relations between the different materials ? wich products require large rate of flow ?

my big feeder of the main material can give now up to 10 ton/hour. is there any continuous products at all wich needs this large rate of flow (and this is only from one feeder..) ?

I actually need a recipe or product to "justify" my system...according to it i'll maybe change the sizes of the other feeders and the flow of rate they can supply respectively...

as I said in the first post - my work is more on the automation and controling, but i surely want the mechanical system to be reasonable...

by the way - love your country! i have been there 3 times and i'll come again for sure.

thanks again,

Rubins.
