The latest weigh feeder – MULTIDOS® HPG

Proven technology + state-of-the-art design = the ultimate solution for feeding solid fuels

For more than six decades, Schenck Process weigh feeders have been paradigms of reliability, precision and operational safety. While these long-established products have enjoyed a glorious history, their quality, functional, software and stability features have now been further refined to produce MULTIDOS® High Pressure Gravimetric (HPG), a new generation of weigh feeders which are more efficient than ever before.

The first choice for fuel feeding

The gravimetric feeding technologies Schenck Process has been designing since the 1930s to feed coal and alternative fuels are precise and extremely reliable. Through the addition of state-of-the-art design elements, this proven technology has now become the ultimate solution for feeding solid fuels. It is called MULTIDOS® High Pressure Gravimetric or MULTIDOS® HPG for short.

New design elements deliver greater efficiency

State-of-the-art mechanics and design elements with enhanced software technology and extended control functions have been added to the MULTIDOS® HPG weigh feeder.

For example, the MULTIDOS® HPG's tension roll and active belt steering system maintain belt alignment. The belt is also centred in the event of an uneven distribution of load. This removes the need for a V-guide and extends the belt's service life. An internal belt scraper has been incorporated to extend the life of the drive components. And the drives can now be fitted on the left or right in the field.

An inlet (610 mm, 914 mm or 1000 mm wide) ensures an even flow and works perfectly in the opposite direction of conveyance too, allowing the material flow to be reversed by 180° through a simple conversion step. The material is simply transported through the emergency discharge outlet, ensuring better flow behaviour in an emergency.

Another new feature is the emergency discharge chute on the bottom of the housing. The outlet features a sliding panel which is easy to remove. Coal can be discharged from the feeder into the convenient outlet below, reducing the amount of work and cleaning required.

While the old design was rectangular, the MULTIDOS® HPG weigh feeder is round. As the outlet hopper has no corners or edges, the flow of coal is optimised at a maximum pressure of 3.5 bar. Yet another great selling point for this robust system.

The new end doors are lighter and have the necessary compression strength of 3.5 bar to simplify operation.

Sloped or rounded internal surfaces avoid coal build-up and allow all grades of coal to be processed.

The new cleaning scrapers are made from high-strength composite materials which makes them significantly more sturdy and resistant to corrosion then their cast iron predecessors.

Even the technology and software details are impressive. The MULTIDOS® HPG features DISOCONT® Tersus feeder technology with enhanced software technology and extended functions for optimum control of gravimetric feeders using a graphic touch screen interface.

The final element of the MULTIDOS® HPG design concept is that is designed in line with NEC, CE and ATEX requirements to offer state-of-the-art safety.
