Recalcination of Lime

Dear All

Our sugar refinery uses about 8,000 tons of Ca(OH)2 per year.

We have a process which results in a solids waste of Calcium Carbonate 30% moisture, and some organic impurities.

In order to become more environment friendly, we are looking at ways to recycle the CaCO3.

Is there anyone out there who has any exposure to a proven process of recalcining the CaCO3 into CaO?

I don't have any experience with it however, it is done in papermills. They have a similar situation. The kilns are referred to as wet kilns, and they get a slurry feed - they function as driers, balling drums and then calcinators.
