Dry Bulk Terminal Operator Training

Posted in: , on 28. Oct. 2009 - 12:06

I am undertaking a study into the current methods and requirements for training of port workers in the dry bulk sector focusing on iron ore, coal and phosphates loading and unloading terminals. The study is on behalf of the ILO (a UN organisation see ilo.org for more info) as part of prepartory work towards developing generic training material to be made available globally as part of their PDP initiative.

At this stage I am collecting information on the current training being provided (be it safety, industry knoweldge, plant operation, stockyard management, BLU compliance, bulk handling material characteristics, etc). I am also seeking to gain examples of job descriptions and details of training resouces and structures at terminals to illustrate current methods.

Is anyone reading this thread responsible for training at a dry bulk terminal who would be able to assist me either in answering these questions or providing examples of curiculum or training material?

As part of the study I will be visiting Mundra, Chennai, Richards Bay and Maputo and so any one in these locations interested in supporting the study are encouraged to contact me .
