Steel cement silo

Posted in: , on 18. Oct. 2007 - 09:41

Hi everyone

I am looking for information about steel silo for cement storage.

If I decide to use 2500m3 steel silo for cement, what will be the weight of this silo and it's supporting structure?(approx.)

What will be the cost of this steel silo and supporting structure?(approx.)

And last of all, which is the efficient ? A one silo that has 5000m3 capacity or two silo that has 2500m3 capacity...

Thank you for your comments already

Hi again

We are working on a project that needs 5000m3 cement storage.

And we want to get some info about steel silo for cement storage and searching for suppliers too. We need to know;

If we decide to use 2500m3 steel silo for cement, what will be the weight of this silo and it's supporting structure ? (approx.)

What will be the cost of this steel silo and supporting structure for us ? (approx.)

And last of all, which is the efficient ? A one silo that has 5000m3 capacity or two silo that has 2500m3 capacity...

Anyone interest?

silos are for storage and effiiciency means ease of loading and extaction. Steel and RCC silos both can be equally good if designed properly.

Cement is silos will be warm. Steel silos need insulation on outer surface to prevent condenation of water. If not provided, moisture in air used for fluidisation condenses near silo surface as steel gets cold in night or in winters. Cement forms lumps and these lumps create problems in extraction system. I have experience in RCC silos with conical steel bottoms. These cones had fluidizing pads. Eventually for getting troublefree operation we had to insulate conical bottoms.

Both steel silos or RCC silos will have an RCC ring beam as founation (over piles or footings as dictated by soil strength).

With slipform shuttering, construction of a n RCC silo can be as fast as instalation of a steel silo.

A structural designer will be able to give you costs based on local prices of steel, cemet, aggregate and sand.

Hello,

the weight for a silo 2500 t you can calculate approx 17000 kg

for 5000 t Silo you must calculate about 36000 kg for the silo

for 5000 t you also must calculate diameter 18 m and high approx 30 m

If you have any question about the silo and components please don´t be hesitate to ask me

Best regards

Bernd
