Re: Technical Data Of Belt Conveyors

Emil,

First of all you should go to your University LIbrary and look for books,

and technical journals in this field, and after you have done this you can come back with very specific questions. You cannot expect that any body will write your diploma thesis in this forum. But several experts are willing to reply to unique problems.

I recommend study of the journal "bulk solids handling" published by Trans Tech Publications (https://edir.bulk-online.com/oldedirredirect/200333.htm), and the Best of... books on Belt Conveyor Technology (http://www.bulk-online.com/shop/inde...178a5b7615eef7)

and the book by I.G. Mulani (see other posts within this Forum for details),

and also a visit to the eLibrary (http://www.bulk-online.com/ELIB/index.php) which contains the titles of hundreds of good articles on Belt Conveyor technology and surface mining applications.

I wish you much success!

Emil:

Learn about the designing of belt conveyors with our free BELTSTAT demonstration program. Visit our webstite for a download: www.conveyor-dynamics.com

It has a built in HELP feature and a QUICKSTART key to get you started. There are minor assumptions that you should know regarding some of the nomenclature for belt conveyors such as: width, speed, idlers, takeup (gravity or fixed), geometry and curves, pulleys and drives or brakes, steady-state vs acceleration and deceleration, the differences between partial and fully loaded belt behavior.

BELTSTAT is a learning tool and a comprehensive design tool used by many of the world's major design houses and manufacturers'.

Maybe, you should try it with Mr. Mulani's book on the subject advertised here in this forum as noted by Dr. Wohlbier. A little reading and hacking is good for the soul.

Please clarify about the specific nature of data you are seeking for. The data can be of many types such as size-range, capacity, price-range etc. This clarity will help you get the right answer.

Belt Conveyors In Surface Mining

Posted on 23. Apr. 2003 - 09:47

Dear Emil,

Please contact with the Machinery Systems Division at the Institute of Mining Engineering of Wroclaw University of Technology (pl.Teatralny 2, 50-051 Wroclaw, Poland, phone: +48 71 320 68 30, jurdziak@ig.pwr.wroc.pl). We are the strongest team in Poland specializing in belt conveyor technology and we could provide you with necessary information.

Shortly prof. Lech G3adysiewicz,the actual chief of our team, will publish his book about designing of belt conveyors and you can also find a lot of information in previously published books written by prof. T.Zur and prof. M.Hardygora: "Przenoœniki taœmowe w grnictwie" Wyd. Œl1sk, Katowice 1996 (Belt conveyors in mining) and prof.M.Hardygore & other authors "Taœmy przenoœnikowe" WNT, Warszawa 1999 (Conveyor belts).

We have also our own computer program for calculation of belt conveyors developed by prof. L.G3adysiewicz and dr W.Kawalec which could help you in understanding what is required to know for designing of modern belt conveyor for surface mining.

A lot of information you can also find in our conference proceedings: Fundamental Problems of Belt Transportation which is organized every two years in Szklarska Porba in Poland since late 70-ties as well as in the magazine "Transport Przemys3owy" (Industrial Transport) edited by prof.L.G3adysiewicz.

Please feel free to contact us.

Best regards,

Emil,

There are a number of open pit mines around you not to far which you should have planty of data from and use some long overland conveyors. I would suggest that you do make contact with Wroclaw University they do have some great resources and the head of the departemnt from what I hear is good and she did study at Hanover and couple other places that might be a good contact for you in the future. Also if you need more contacts you should look at some other Polish students that are studing in USA and all over the world that might get you other good contacts to Professors and books publish.. Take a look at Colorado School of Mines, Virginia Tech, Rolla, Penn State, Michigan Tech, Montana Tech but also take a look at Hanover, Delft and few other once but there should be planty of info in Poland. (There are quiet few good polish professors in USA and Canada in minning that might help you, do the search...)

If you are intersted in the world belt conveyors you should do a search on some of the publications and maybe contact some of the belt producers like Fenner, Goodyear, Phoenix and etc.... Also try the big engineering companies like Krupp, Bechtel, etc...

Also if you need you can get a copy of our software, Belt Analyst II, to use for free and we can setup a copy at Poznan for the students to use. You can find it on our webpage at www.overlandconveyor.com.

If you need any help you can always contact me directly also.
