Coke crushing and screening plant

Posted in: , on 2. May. 2005 - 15:50

I need the advise from the hon.members of this forum regarding coke crushing and screening plant.

the description of the the system is envisaged as follows--

The coke (-450 mm) size shall be conveyed to the primary crusher and screen below this by an inclined pan conveyor or by cleated belt conveyor@75 tph from the dump hopper, which is equipped with a rod gate and vibratory feeder, the over size material from the screen will go to secondary crusher and screen. Now our requirement is as follows--

To design the row/rows of crushers and screens (max.two rows vertically) in such a way that the final size of coke will be of sizes--

either or

0-3 mm 0-5 mm

3-6mm 5-10mm

6-12 mm 10-20mm

12 -25 mm 20-30mm

25-40mm 30-40mm

40-80mm 40-60

80-120 60-80

+120 80-100

100-120

Some Critical Information To Digest

Posted on 3. May. 2005 - 08:42

Dear Anil Seth,

In order to give you right advice regarding coke crushing and screening

plant we need much more information about your coke characteristics and

surroundings conditions. For example hot (warm) coke from the Battery has

high plasticity. The coke is very hydroscopic material and its behavior

dependable from environmental.

First of all we should crush and screen your coke through our pilot plant nd

depending on the coal distribution decide what kind of primary and secondary

crushers will be suitable in your case.

Although crushing technology is governed by simple laws of physics, it

is impractical to reduce the crusher selection process to a series of

formulas. Proper crusher selection and sizing is done largely on the

basis of experience, using prior field applications and laboratory tests to

show how a given material will be reduced by a particular type of

crusher.

Compression crushers (JAW CRUSHER or hammer mills) typically used as a primary crusher. Impact crushers (roll crushers or cone crushers) lare typically used as secondary stage crushers.

It looks to me that in your case you need closed-circuit crushing, it

means of controlling product top size by screening the product and then returning oversize material to the feed end of the crusher for another pass through the machine. While it may be possible to obtain a specified top size from crushers without using a closed-circuit system, it is not always desirable. To control top size from a single crusher operating in

an open circuit, material must remain in the crushing chamber until it is reduced. This can result in overcrushing a percentage of the product, with a corresponding increase in fines and a loss of efficiency.

During crushing, screening, conveying and storing coke you will meet HUGE problem caused by dust generation. Your air must be cleaned according environmental standards.

Be ready to use a cyclone separators and another filtering/cleaning equipment.

The dust of coke is very explosive!!! substance - take it in your

consideration too.

Choice of the right crushers its only thetip of the iceberg.

Please don't hesitate to contact us in the future if you have any

questions.

Selection Of Right Crusher For Coke

Posted on 6. May. 2005 - 01:35

I Need the expertise of the hon. members of this forum to suggest the right type of crusher ---hammer,roll,jaw or ?.

Our main input size is--450mm and the final size is --3 mm.

we have envisaged the following system--

we will pass the crushed material from a paticular type of crusher (only 1 no.), lift with bucket elevator and will provide nos. off double deck screens in a row , with bins below the same to get various sizes of coke.

Dear George

Very good explanation from you. we are also supplying one coke crushing unit of 400 TPH. but that is a Petroleum coke. the lump size is -200mm.

I would like to know from you the basic sizing of the crusher size with this following specs.

1. lump size : -250 mm

2. product size : -100mm ( primary)

3. product size : -50 mm secondary.

could you please help me out.

Thank you

you may be able to select a crusher. visit

http://www.gundlach.us/applications/

I have no experience of using these crushers for pet-coke application.

Crusher selection will also depend on preferred size fractions in the crushed product and end use of the product.

Re: Coke Crushing And Screening Plant

Dear Pappu,

Impact crushers and hammer mills throw material against walls or breaker bars to create a lot of fines and dust. Their feed rate is usually quite high. Rolls and cone crushers use nip points and wind up compressing the product, creating fines and are usually secondary crushers. Feed rates are usually quite low with these crushers. Since you have a large feed size and are crushing it down 40-20% you may want to look into a jaw crusher. Jaws are compressors too but not in the same way as the roll and cone. They are the most universal primary. The jaw does most of its crushing material on material, when set up right and choke fed, creating less fines and dust. Jaw crusher has a 6:1 ratio. Looks like you are not looking to create too many fines. Not sure of the size jaw you would need to maintain 400t/hr, at least a 30x54.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
