Changing Hopper Liners

Dear All,

Changing the worn out liners in Big Bunkers ( 5.5 x 5.5 x 15 mtrs) is a very time consuming job. There is only small opening at Top and bottom is closed by Feeder/Screns etc.

To reach to the level of worn out Liners, we have to errect scafolding inside the bunker.

The time required for making scafolding is more compared to actual placing & welding of Lineres.

In a process plant, getting long hours shut down becomes major bottleneck for attending such problems.

Any solution?

Regards

Better Quality Of Liners

If you install a better quality of liner for example: you may be using mild steel liners AR250.......you could go to 360, 400 or higher and this would increase changeout times.

......................................

Go to a material on material setup, where material does wear out liners at all. A step to step type design, put step where material trajectory dictates, allow pocket to fill up with material and then cascade out of it to next HIT POINT, etc.

GEORGE BAKER.......That is if this application allows this type of design

. . . . and if the material is free flowing! If it is cohesive, such a design approach will cause bunker blockage!

You might be having more wear of liners in the bottom conical / pyramid shape. Therefore, one needs to reduce the frequency of replacement in this zone. So, the option is to use either superior quality or thicker or superior and thicker liners.

The liner fixing arrangement should be decided very carefully by the supplier for ease of replacement.

The specific type of liner and its mounting arrangement depends upon material etc.

One can also examine the flow pattern in the bunkers. If the flow pattern is not proper, it can also result into more wear. Generally, one should keep the bunker partially filled all the time so that material does not fall from great height on to the bunker bottom.

Changing Hopper Liners

Posted on 29. Aug. 2004 - 09:24

Dear all,

I am getting very good reponses in this forum.

We try to maintain the minimum stock level in Bunkers.

Regarding stone boxes, we fix it in the transfer chutes.

You will appreciate the by any measures, the problem of wearing out of the liners can not be totally ruled out.

Basically, I am looking for a machine with retractable boom or sort of, which can descend inside the hopper and carry the people in the platform fixed to it.

As the hopper is 20 mtrs high, making a working platform any where in the wall is a time consuming job.

Regards,

You can try the boom loaded vehicle used for high mast electrical post repairing with certain modifications.
