Industrial hose clamp systems have to be designed for extreme conditions: these systems must resist mechanical stresses, withstand high pressure and be easy to handle. NORRES, the Gelsenkirchen based hose manufacturer, has just released two patented products that meet these challenging requirements: NORCONNECT 231 and NORCONNECT 232.
The two clamp systems were specifically developed for heavy and super-heavy, externally corrugated spiral hoses. NORCONNECT 231 is ideally suited for use in the plastics industry, while NORCONNECT 232 is predestined for food, pharmaceutical and chemical applications.
In the past, hose clamps have traditionally been the solution of choice to connect externally corrugated spiral hoses to adapters. Under high pressure, however, they inevitably entail a risk that the adapter could become displaced or the system gradually lose its tightness. The patented NORRES coupling systems have finally put an end to this problem.
NORRES Mechatronics R&D department has now come up with a special, threaded sealing insert that is adapted to the outer hose contour and fitted between the hose and the clamp shell or pressing sleeve. The connection formed when the shells are clamped or the sleeves pressed together is remarkably tight. In the case of the NORCONNECT 232 press fitting system, users additionally profit from connections without any clearance spaces. Both these innovative, patented systems are designed with a form-locking groove and a form-locking bar. The resulting high tensile strength ensures that the adapter is securely held in the spiral hose even under considerable pressure.
Furthermore, the hose's metallic insert is exposed and contacted with the adapter when the systems are assembled. Clamping the shells or pressing the sleeves together creates a secure connection that is capable of electrostatic discharge.
The patented NORRES NORCONNECT 231 Safety Clamp System has a special, threaded sealing insert that is adapted to the outer hose contour. The system is consequently explosion proof and the clamp shells are suitable for reuse. The shells are made of aluminium and therefore extremely light, which means they are quick and easy to fit. The system is vibration-proof, odourless and tasteless, and resistant to microbial attack and hydrolysis. NORCONNECT 231 also boasts good chemical stability.
The new coupling system can be used in conjunction with the AIRDUC® 355 and 356 profile hoses. In this combination, NORCONNECT 231 represents the perfect solution for pellet suction and transport on pellet conveying systems in the plastics industry as well as for loading and unloading silos and other similar applications with a high throughput of media like powder or pellets. The polyurethane employed for the sealing insert is additionally food-grade and complies with the regulations of the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and 178.2010) plus the equivalent European Directives (2002/72/EC and 2007/19/EC), including amending Directives 2008/39/EC and 975/2009.
The NORCONNECT 232 Safety Clamp System was specially developed by NORRES for use in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The patented NORCONNECT 232 – comprising a stainless steel pressing sleeve and a sealing insert made of special premium polyurethane – is leak-proof and easy to clean with no clearance spaces. The compatible AIRDUC® PUR 355 MHF and 356 MHF hose types, either with or without a stainless steel coil, have been approved by an independent testing laboratory and the complete hose meets the requirements laid down for food and pharmaceutical applications in EU Directive 2002/72/EC, including the latest amending Directives 2008/39/EC and 975/2009.
The pressed fittings can be supplied in two different stainless steel qualities (1.4301 and 1.4404) for these two target industries. The batch number, article number and manufacturer's name are printed on the system to help users keep a check on the recommended maintenance intervals and avoid confusion or delays when ordering spare parts.
The compatible NORRES AIRDUC® PUR 355 MHF and 356 MHF polyurethane hoses, which can be used with or without a stainless steel coil, have five times better resistance to abrasion than rubber. They are transparent, extremely flexible and resistant to chemicals.
The clamp systems are offered with a diameter of 25 to 100 mm. The connections are compatible with AIRDUC® 355 and 356 profile hoses.
Finally, many popular coupling and connection solutions, such as dairy, aseptic, TRIO-Clamp, Kamlok, Store or tank truck couplings and fixed or loose flanges, can be connected quickly, easily and securely.
