Beneficiation of calcium carbonate

I have read about two methods for beneficiating ground calcium carbonate using froth floatation technique. In one proper collectors are used to make the the calcium carbonate become hydrophobic and allow it to overflow from the launder while impurities are drained from bottom. In another, the silica impurity is taken up and calcium carbonate is taken out from bottom as tailings.

Which of the two is the more economical and better method to improve whiteness of GCC?

It is customary to remove impurities using flotation. This is to reduce usage of chemicals as well as for ease of handling of mineral as well as impurity.

If discoloration of GCC is due to traces of iron oxide, it will be better to remove it my magnetic separation. Ground silica is also white.

It depends.

I know several machines can do such work. They are powder magnetic drum separator, permanent magnetic roller separator, and spiral separator. Attached you can find the picture of the machines. Below link for your reference.

I suggest you'd better to ask a expert (such as an engineer or sales)to get the detailed information you request. Good luck!
