Re: Fly Ash Unloading By Using Pneumatic System
I think your are after the same information as Mr Bharat kindly check the thread
"Unloading Fly Ash from Bulk Tanker "
It seams Your designer has already had plenty of feedback. ■
Re: Fly Ash Unloading By Using Pneumatic System
dear me patel
Indeed, as mr Mantoo said, it seems to be the same information as discussed with mr bharat.
To answer your questions :
1)Air compressor is OK (see also Mr bharat)
The compressor must be a oil free compressor with internal adiabatic compression, as a Roots blower (with isochoric compression) can deliver pressures up to 0,8 to 1,0 bar(o) maximum, against high temperatures and high energy consumption.
A screw compressor also delivers a constant flow of air (displacement principle compressor)
The delivered pressure is caused by the flow resistance of the fly-ash/air mixture in the pipeline and varies with the loading ratio (not constant)
2)If the design pressure of the system is higher than the allowable pressure of the tanker, then a lower pressure system must be designed for the required capacity.
This will result normally in a higher air flow, lower pressure and bigger pipelines and filters on the silo.
The pipeline diameter of 4” combined with 19 m3/min is certainly not the optimum (see also Mr bharat)
If you would like me to calculate 4”, please let me know.

Fly ash Unloading by Using Pneumatic system
I want your help for checking Fly ash unloading system design.
Specification given below:-
Material specification:-
Type of material: Dry Fly ash
Finesse:- 3000 Blaine
Temp.:-45 Deg.C
System Description: - We are planning for install the Fly ash Addition system at our cement mill Discharge. For this Fly ash transport by tanker Capacity: 30 to 40T from nearest power plant and unload into storage Bin (Cap.:-100 T/ 5.5Mtr. Dia X 8.5M Ht. With Areation system) by using the Pneumatic system. System air supplied by Root Blower/ Air compressor. System design for 25-30 Minutes Tanker unloading times..
Total Height of Hopper:-16M
Piping geometry:- Vertical Length:- 16.5M
Horizontal Length:-5 M (From Tanker Outlet to Unloading Header)
No. Of Bend: - 3 Nos. Angle: - 90 Deg.
Our system designer given following specification for same system.
Pipe Dia: 100 NB(4” NB)
Air compressor Specification: - 19 Cub.M /Min FAD, Pressure: - 2.5 Bar.
Please following confirm:-
1.Air compressor suitable for this system? As per my opinion Root Blower suitable for this system. Because Root Blower give continues pressure and Air flow. Please confirm
2.Recommended Air requirement & pressure (19 Cub.M/Min FAD and pressure-2.5 Bar) is sufficient? May be it very higher? Please check.
3.Air pressure is higher for Tanker vessel pressure design. Also please check.
I hope & waiting for your favorable reply immediate. ■
