Subrata

There are many suppliers of fluidizing devices on the market. If you look into an on-line directory and search under "aeration" or "fluidization" you'll probably find both suppliers links as well as technical articles you requested.

Try the eLibrary and eDirectory features on this website as a start and search for articles and suppliers.

If you have difficulty, send me an e-mail with more specifics about your application and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

On this subject a good article that I had recently reviewed for publication in Chemical Engineering is available in PDF format. This article gives detailed information on aeration pads. I can send you a free copy if you think it would be useful to you.

Railway Wagons

Posted on 29. Sep. 2005 - 11:06

Many year ago I came across a railway wagon manufacturer who was using regular poor quality chip-board for fluidising cement in the base of his wagons. It was about 30 mm thick and strong enough for the purpose. It comes in large sheets, is easily fabricated and is very cheap. It even seemed to do the job perfectly well. I am not sure that I would have bought it, but you never know.

I'm issued from SIMOTRA the first European company in waggons rental and since many years I've found my own Engeenering company. SIMOTRA has built first wagons for bulk transport of ciment in 1956 with simply system of fluidisation, then has developed conical fluidisation system working succesfully on a lot of difficults products. More than 5 000 wagons was equiped with this system.

I start from this system and ameliorate it and I use it on my pneumatic transfer systems.

I can send you a documentation about this system.

Best regards.

Aeration is material specific. Aeration is effective on some materials and not on others. S.M.ASSOCIATES can take up a job of designing aeration system for railway wagons.

Fluidizing Media/Flow Pads

Posted on 9. Feb. 2009 - 03:07

The question was posed a few years ago, but others might have the same question now so I thought I would post a reply.

Porvair Filtration Group supplies VYON(R) sintered plastic fluidizing media and air pads. This material does not fray, does not tear easily and is easier to mount than many types of fabrics or canvas. The VYON fluidization media is available in sheets but also can be made in funnels, discs, pads and special shapes.

Porvair Filtration Group also manufactures sintered stainless steel flow pads and fluidizing media for high temperature and other challenging applications. It is extremely rugged and won't fray, tear etc. like polymeric materials and canvas. The fluidizing media, typically stainless steel but also available in other alloys, is comprised of multiple layers of woven mesh sintered together in order to provide controlled, even flow. The material is available in a variety of porosities in low-flow and high-flow grades. It is rugged and also easy to mount, cut, drill, weld, etc. .This sintered metal mesh fluidization media is also available in flat sheets, discs, funnels, and custom shapes.

The company also makes pulse-jet (self-cleaning) metal filter systems which are ideally suited to high temperature gasses, and/or containment of toxic compounds with relatively high solids loading.

Information about the company can be obtained at porvairfiltration.com .

Joseph

I was chief of engineering department of SIMOTRA witch was named SIMOTRA TECHNIQUE, then I've found SIMOTECH and now my company is Xavier Meyrigne-CE.

I was at SIMOTRA when made the first 500 wagons of bulk alumina transportation with pneumatically unloading.

If you need some help or some supply for it or for new projects for bulk fluidisation for wagons or for truck, you can contact me at xavier.meyrigne@wanadoo.fr
