Pipe Conveyors

Posted in: , on 19. Sep. 2005 - 17:40

I've been reading some of the info and opinions on pipe conveyors.

I have a customer that would like to replace a conventional 20 deg. trough, 15 deg. incline rubber belt system to a tube type .

Belt width 30"

Material Lea/Zinc

TPH- 100-120

Belt speed 250

Belt type G.year 335 Plylon Plus

Belt lenght about 400ft. long

Would be interested in a ball park price for such a system

Thanks,

Hello Ron

What is the customers reason for wanting to go to a pipe conveyor? That is a relatively short distance for a pipe conveyor.

Did you ever solve the pulley slippage problem that a customer was experiencing during the winter season?

Hi Gary,

Yes we solved the pulley problem by using a softter rubber and putting herring bone type grooves into the lagging.

As for the tube conveyor, my customer is having a serious spillage and dust problem and is looking for solutions.

Thanks for the reply

Ron

If the spillage and dust problem is along the conveyor it would be cheaper to replace 20 deg idlers with 35 or 45 deg idlers and install dust covers. If the spillage is at transfer point then pipe conveyor will not correct.

You can contact Derek Wood - Strongco Engineered Systems in Toronto at 905-565-4019 (direct line) or there toll free at 800-387-9145.

Derek should be able to give you a ball park number on a pipe conveyor replacement.
