THE ADAMS, THE REEL CHANGER and UNISEAL extend the

HAVER product family

Product novelties await the visitors at the common booth of the companies HAVER & BOECKER and BEHN + BATES at the interpack 2005 taking place in Düsseldorf from 21 to 27 April.

The specialist in the field of weighing technology, filling technology and processing technology exhibits on about 400 square meters in hall 12, booth 12E03/D04, proven systems and novelties which were developed on the basis of individual customer requirements for the filling into open-mouth bags and valve bags. For the filling of free-flowing bulk materials HAVER & BOECKER presents the systems THE ADAMS, UNISEAL, INTEGRA and as additional module for the proven HAVER-FFS-technique the automatic FFS-REEL CHANGER. For the filling of foodstuffs, BEHN + BATES, a subsidiary of HAVER, presents the makes TOPLINE for open-mouth bags and the 1-spout-impeller packer for valve bags.

THE ADAMS, a rotating high-performance filling machine that fills powdery products and building materials cleanly, densely and compactly into plastic tubular film bags, belongs to the novelties of HAVER. Owing to the fact that the building material industry delivers more and more to end-user markets (do-it-yourself-markets) especially American and Canadian building material producers require apart from cleanness and lengthening of the shelf life a good bag handling.

In order to meet this requirement and at the same time ensuring a high filling output HAVER & BOECKER developed THE ADAMS which is an alternative to the proven and very successful ROTOSEAL–valve bag packing system. This machine is based on the proven modules of the HAVER-FFS-technology and is designed for using gusseted tubular film. Bag manufacturing, transfer, filling and sealing of the filled bag transfer work at an output of up to 1,200 bags per hour in the automatic mode.

HAVER & BOECKER expands its valve bag sealing possibilities according to the ultrasonic sealing principle by the HAVER-UNISEAL.

The HAVER-UNISEAL is an ideal solution if the customer likes to have sealed and cleaned bags the available ROTO-Packer, however, allows no modification to internal sealing devices or if the individual application conditions when having high capacity and many spouts enables this alternative.

The HAVER-UNISEAL is a stationary valve bag sealing unit for the HAVER-ROTO-Packer that seals the bag valves according to the ultrasonic sealing system.

The sealing of the bag valve is effected before the discharge of the filled bag takes place, in fact in a continuous operation by a continuously rotating ROTO-Packer. Optimum sealing results are guaranteed by the proven inflatable filling tubes. The HAVER-UNISEAL is useable for ROTO-Packers with three to twelve filling spouts and can achieve an output of up to 3,000 bags / hour.

With the REEL CHANGER HAVER & BOECKER offers an automatic reel changer for FFS-systems, another module to increase the efficiency of the Form Fill Seal-Lines.

Depending on the plant installation and the availability of the operating staff, especially the time for the changing of the reel of 5 to 10 % has a particularly detrimental effect on the output, especially for the high-performance plants which produce more than 2,200 bags / h. The automatic reel changer allows the changing of the film reels without direct intervention. This gives the operator additional freedoms regarding his work plan.

The actual changing of the reel takes place automatically stopping the filling process for merely 30 to 45 seconds. At the same time the new film is welded together with the film located in the machine, the area of the corner welding is prepared for the insertion and the film piece that was welded together is automatically delivered during the running filling process. This additional module which can also be retrofitted into existing FFS-plants increases the productiveness of the whole filling process substantially. The system is delivered for two or three film reels.

The INTEGRA is a fully automated and well-engineered system which meets the greatest demands. This integrated machine technology also guarantees, in fine adjustment of the product, the packaging means and the machine, the optimum advantage for the user. This compact machine which meets the future requirements of the customers for every kind of bulk material fillings achieving an output of up to 700 bags per hour, is a system in which the automatic valve bag placer, the filling technology, the valve sealing device, the control and service unit and the discharge belt are encapsulated in one common casing which is absolutely dust-tight.

As the system is delivered to the customer ready for production it can be quickly installed according to the "plug’n pack" concept and put into operation.

The company BEHN + BATES/Münster, that is the Westphalian specialist for packaging machines and a subsidiary of HAVER, presents for the first time at the interpack 2005 its new open-mouth bag filling system TOPLINE which was especially developed for the food industry. The TOPLINE is an ultra-modern fully automated filling system which was developed for the filling of free-flowing powdery products into open-mouth bags with filling weights between 5 to 25 kg. It is particularly characterised by the fact that it is suitable for the customer requirements either according to the gross filling principle or the net filling principle. The method and the material for the bag to be filled can also be also chosen flexibly just like the method of the bag feeding system and the type of bag sealing.

The complete working process, from the filling to the sealing of the open-mouth bags, takes place in one compact casing. The integrated system components are wired ready for connection so that this new concept from the company BEHN + BATES guarantees not only a maximum of cleanness but also reduces the times needed for assembly and commissioning. The bag transfer takes place on the same level during the complete empty bag transport and filled bag transport and therefore leads to a very good quality of the bag sealing. Top-quality bags with optimum bag fill factor which can be well palletised are the result.

BEHN + BATES fulfil the high hygiene standards in the food processing industry considering also e.g. filling spouts with integrated bag deaeration and the minimization of possible dust deposit surfaces.

A compact bag filling is guaranteed by the choice of a new compression system. After the filling is finished the bags will be sealed within the machine. The sealing can be alternatively effected by folding, sewing, welding, gluing or even hot melt reactivation or by combinations out of it.

Because of its reduced air filling the impeller packer from BATES + BEHN is the optimum solution for free-flowing fine powdery products, as for example baking flours or corn starches. The product is rapidly and cleanly filled via either a vertical impeller wheel or a horizontal impeller wheel. The impeller wheel is adapted to the specific product characteristics. A high filling pressure ensures a good product densification in the bag. Bags that can be compactly filled and well palletised are the result.

The machine is especially designed for the interests of the food industry. For example, possible product deposit surfaces are reduced to a minimum.

The impeller packer is equipped with a valve bag sealing station which seals the bags directly after filling at the filling spout so that no product can escape from the bag and thus the filling area remains completely clean.
