Yo Ho Ho And Gtrizzly Full Of Coal That Does Not Want To Leave:…
Greetings Ahmed, ims Allah I can save you a headache or two,
After reading your message here in the eastern wilderness @1140 feet above mean sea level I wanted to save you a lot of work and FOR GOOD OR BAD HERE IT IS.
Pedestal breakers have been around for a long time for both surface and underground use in ore passes/grizzlies so your professor is not being at all helpfull.
In all reality your grizzly is small even for anthracite as the grizzly must be larger or install an apron feeder which will act as a recieving pit with a choker plate to hold back flow while it is being carried into the grizzly-the smaller the opening-no matter how small-it could be only 3 inches will solve your problem from the beginning as the coal will continually grind it self to size befor it is fed into the grizzly
Ideally a man in an operators cab operating the pedestal breaker will be the only solution short of using a belt feeder breaker to break the coal in a primary sequence at the mine face or crushing plant eliminating the grizzly and feeding the crushing plant continually.
pedestal breakers and grapples are common place in aggregate quarries and underground mines with ore passes.
A good place to start is www.carhoe.com for examining railroad car excavators that eliminate coal blockages in bottom dump coal cars.
Google in parenthesis (pedestal breakers) and you will see a wealth of information and you should google mining web sites. ■
Re: Rom Coal Blockage Removal System
Hi Ahmed ,
We are coal washery and coal handling plant EPC company in india.
Here we too face such problems where we have the grizzly choked up and not allowing may material to go into the crusher.
Most commonly we drive the end loader over the grizzly crushing the coal and letting it pass.
Otherwise we may engage a pneumatic hammer with one operator who would simply break the larger lumps into the grizzly.
There are hundreds of way we can do this job ............. question is how economical is it going to be. In india people find manpower is cheaper so we have pneumatic hammers. But places where manpower is not cheap people might install a system starting feeder breaker, prior to despatch from mines. ■
My Design Solution
Sorry i kinda started this thing and didnt get back .. well its been couple of months and im towards to end of completing my project ..
i would like to show you what i have come up with ..
Thanks sanddeep but your right, here in Australia man power is expensive and thats why the idea of a mechanical automatic system needs to be installed instead of an operator on a loader.
Ive attached my final project conference which was on last friday ..
lemme know what you guys thnk .. there still lots of work to be done and i need to get on top of it .. i really only got another month to go ..
Cheers

Dust Suppression
Dear Sirs,
We have pleasure to inform you that we are manufacturing speciality
chemicals for various industrial applications. We have Dust
Suppression products range 'DUSTRON' for the DUST SUPPRESSION in
mining operation for haulage road in open cast mines and for the bulk
material handling systems.
We have a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Central Mining
Research Institute (CMRI) Dhanbad, India which is a part of Council
of Scientific & Industrial Research Govt. of India. CMRI is the world
recognised Institute for the research in the field of mining
operation.
The following products are approved and accepted by the Indian Mining
Industries since last 10 years for better environmental and mining
conditions.
1. DUSTRON PC Compound: For the open cast mines haul road where the
dust emission is because of HEAVY EARTH MOVERS of high capacity
trucks Dozzer, Tippler etc. DUSTRON PC is used for various class of
mines in India for dust suppression in the mines as under.
(1) Iron Ore Mines
(2) Zinc Mines
(3) Lime Stone Mines
(4) Copper/Chromite Mines
2.DUSTRON PC COAL : For the open cast mines haul road of collieries,
railway sidings and coal jetty's road of the ports.
3.DUSTRON PC LIGNITE : For the haulage roads of lignite open cast mines.
4.DUSTRON XT : This product is used for the dust suppression of bulk
material handling system where at the transfer point crusher house,
dumper platform dust emission is heavy, so along with water spray
DUSTRON XT is used to control dust emission.
5.DUSTRON XT COAL : For bulk material handling system of conveyors,
dumper platform, wagon tipplers of open cast/ under ground mines,
Thermal power plants and coal jetty on the port trust.
All the above products are used in Indian mining industries to control
dust for better environment & working conditions which produce no. of
advantages.
We hope that you might be consuming some product for similar
application. "Using DUSTRON RANGE OF PRODUCT SAVINGS IN WATER is 40%"
with other benefits.
If you find any interest we shall send you the detail literature for
your reference along with quotation.
We request you to send us your e-mail address to contact you on net.
E-mail: nrd@juno.com
We ensure you to provide you best services and technical back-up to
your mines for dust suppression applications.
Awaiting for your valued inquiry.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully

ROM coal blockage removal system
Hello guys my name is Ahmed and i just finished my third year in mechanical engineering and got one more year to go, and a thesis to present. I am a student at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Currently I am employed at BMA (BHP Billiton Mitsubish Alliance) at Norwich Park Mine as a vacation student. My thesis is interesting but i need people's input, im glad to be part of the team and hope that we can all share ideas and knowledge for the better of everyone. Here is what its about.
Topic:
Coal builds up on the 1mx1m ROM grizzly. Currently an end loader is used to clear this up. This requires the loader to be generally at the ROM when it could be utilised more effectively somewhere.
Task:
Design a mechanical system to clear the ROM automatically, or as initiated by coal truck drivers dumping loads of coal through ROM.
From my understanding big chunks of coal end up on the grizzly 1m2 rom. They need to be crushed to a smaller size, and this will allow the crusher located below the rom to operate effectively without having to get jammed. The loaders can run up and back until the coal is crushed but obviously its time consuming, there cost effective therefore inefficient.
I will post my two initial designs later today when i have more time im currently at work. I would really appreciate your input on this. I found the post by Phillip Bergmann really useful and hoping that we could add some more on this topic.
Thanks in advance
Ahmed El Komy ■
