Iron ore mining slurries friction calculations

Posted in: , on 5. Aug. 2008 - 19:00

Hello everyone, thanks for any help you may offer.

Is anyone aware of a course with accompanying software given on a demand basis on slurry transport friction calculation by someone associated with the University of Alberta? Five years ago we took such a course but no one can remember the gentleman’s name or contact info.

Thanks,

Jacques

Jaques,

Sorry I can't specifically identify the course. Somebody mentioned a good textbook in an earlier thread on this topic. It certainly wasn't the McGraw Hill handbook that's for sure. I've got a spreadsheet for launders which involves about 4 evaluation methods. The boffins cannot make their minds up; which is a similar situation to pneumatic conveying theory.

Pneumatic conveying can be up in the air whereas hydraulic conveying can drop you in the gutter.

Yes, it's a messy situation.
