Powder and Bulk Solids Handlers

The next World Congress on Particle Technology (WCPT4) will be held in Sydney, Australia from 21 to 25 July 2002.

One of the topic areas will be 'Powder Handling and Multiphase Flow' which is under the general oversight of Prof Martin Rhodes from Monash University.

The session subject areas within this topic area are:

Transport

Storage, Flow and Feeding

Dust Control and Dust Explosions

Dynamics of Granular Systems

Fluidization and Fluid-Particle Systems

Computer Modelling of Particulate Systems

Reaction in Fluid-Particle Systems

We (Emeritus Professors Alan Roberts and Peter Arnold) (plus maybe a few other colleagues overseas) have volunteered to be responsible for the session subject area 'Storage, Flow and Feeding'.

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT (more than one if you like) - the deadline for submissions is 31 July 2001. We are sure that you will find the event most stimulating and a visit to Australia, even in winter, most enjoyable.

You may find the following information useful. We also encourage you the visit the Congress Website for more details.

Martin is aiming for 100+ papers in his topic area, but there is no quota of papers. No good paper will be rejected.

The congress format will be:

4 days long.

5 parallel streams each day.

Morning: 8 oral presentations per stream.

Afternoon: 5 oral presentations per stream.

Afternoon: Poster presentations (8 per stream).

Submission of Abstracts (before 31 July 2001):

Online at the website: http://www.wcpt4.com

Or by mail to:

WCPT4 Secretariat

GPO Box 2609

Sydney, NSW 2001

Australia

Fax: +61 2 9251 3552

(Abstracts must be on an abstract form available online or from the above address. Peter can also provide you with an abstract form if you email him your mailing details.)

Let us know if you need any further information. We hope that you will support us in our endeavours to ensure that powder and bulk solids handling features prominently at this important event.

We encourage you to circulate this email more widely through your organisation (and beyond) so that we can ensure that all potential contributors are informed.

Thanks and kind regards,

Peter Arnold and Alan Roberts
