Unveiling an ambitious plan to develop Holy Ganges as a major waterways for transport and tourism,the Govt. of India decided yesterday, to make the river stretch Varanasi and Hoogly navigable by boats and barges.Also beautifying the major banks and 11 multipurpose terminals for bulk ,containers ect including in Patna.This will be done in time bound manner.In first stage the investment shall be of 6000 cr. The waterway plan will eventually be stretched up to Allahabad covering 1600 km stretch of the river.
