Dust control for crushers

We are trying to reduce dust emissions at 50 mt/hr chain crushers discharge in fertilizer plant.

Presently crushers are fed directly from oversize screens discharge trough a 5-7 meters tall chute without any restriction.

we have already improved somewhat by installing seals at discharge end transfer point to belt conveyor.

However, we need to reduce air entrainment also.

I have read about installing a feedbox with a minimum number of openings and also choking the feed to reduce air entrainment.

Could anyone of you give me more details about the specific equipment used for this purpose?

Thanks in advance

Ellanos,

The description you give indicates a plant which could have been better designed. Material falling 5-7 metres will entrain a lot of air. Choke feeding the crusher will reduce the emissions there. But, without major reconstruction, you will need to apply dust collection systems to control emissions. You have made a start by sealing the discharge to the conveyor. Enclosure of the dust sources is fundamental to success of these systems.

Look at the guidelines in "Industrial Ventilation" published by The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists. Be generous in estimating exhaust flows (1.5 to 2.0 times recommended for "dry, dusty materials"). Refer to Fig. VS-50-20 and VS-99-01.

Have a capable dust control contractor design the duct system for you and select a wet scrubber or bagfilter to collect the dust.

Hello Ellanos,

Certain type of crushers require that the incoming material should enter at particular velocity so that there is proper crushing action and proper wear in crusher. Does your crusher have such functional requirement?

The earlier respondent has already given good analysis / suggestion. It is difficult to say more without knowing your system, but generally would like to state that chute should be corrected for right entry of material (right velocity, which also implies its direction) so that crushing action is optimum and subsequent to that dust problem is to be tackled by dust collection system.

Crusher Dust Control

Its good to see your focus on controlling air entrainment.

Yes, there are proven methods that can be employed successfully to choke the feed to the crushers however this depends totally on crusher type and configuration. Furthermore it will be necessary to fully encapsulate the feed arrangement to your scalping screens as well as the screen over and undersize chutes. To be effective your dust control difficulties will have to be adressed in total and not one section at a time as one ore path will affect the other.

The crusher feed can be equipped with passive or active feed control to interrupt the air/ore path and enable full benefit of the fugitive emission controls... a 5-7 metre drop should be sufficient but dependant on detail.

We have redesigned crushing and screening plant (that once employed complex ducted dust extraction systems) to include passive and active controls over fugitive emissions dramatically reducing operational and maintenance costs. Such an approach may well be relevant for your plant.

If you'd like to email a photo and more detailed description we would be happy to comment further.

Best wishes for 2004

Dust Suppression

Posted on 4. Oct. 2007 - 08:36

Dear Sir,

We have pleasure to inform you that we are manufacturing speciality

chemicals for various industrial applications. We have Dust

Suppression products range 'DUSTRON' for the DUST SUPPRESSION in

mining operation for haulage road in open cast mines and for the bulk

material handling systems.

We have a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Central Mining

Research Institute (CMRI) Dhanbad, India which is a part of Council

of Scientific & Industrial Research Govt. of India. CMRI is the world

recognised Institute for the research in the field of mining

operation.

The following products are approved and accepted by the Indian Mining

Industries since last 10 years for better environmental and mining

conditions.

1. DUSTRON PC Compound: For the open cast mines haul road where the

dust emission is because of HEAVY EARTH MOVERS of high capacity

trucks Dozzer, Tippler etc. DUSTRON PC is used for various class of

mines in India for dust suppression in the mines as under.

(1) Iron Ore Mines

(2) Zinc Mines

(3) Lime Stone Mines

(4) Copper/Chromite Mines

2.DUSTRON PC COAL : For the open cast mines haul road of collieries,

railway sidings and coal jetty's road of the ports.

3.DUSTRON PC LIGNITE : For the haulage roads of lignite open cast mines.

4.DUSTRON XT : This product is used for the dust suppression of bulk

material handling system where at the transfer point crusher house,

dumper platform dust emission is heavy, so along with water spray

DUSTRON XT is used to control dust emission.

5.DUSTRON XT COAL : For bulk material handling system of conveyors,

dumper platform, wagon tipplers of open cast/ under ground mines,

Thermal power plants and coal jetty on the port trust.

All the above products are used in Indian mining industries to control

dust for better environment & working conditions which produce no. of

advantages.

We hope that you might be consuming some product for similar

application. "Using DUSTRON RANGE OF PRODUCT SAVINGS IN WATER is 40%"

with other benefits.

If you find any interest we shall send you the detail literature for

your reference along with quotation.

We request you to send us your e-mail address to contact you on net.

E-mail: nrd@juno.com

We ensure you to provide you best services and technical back-up to

your mines for dust suppression applications.

Awaiting for your valued inquiry.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully

Airflow Of A Disintegrator With Chains

Posted on 27. Feb. 2008 - 03:50

With this message I wish to express the need to meet a technical requirement of air for a disintegrator with chains.

The data is required for the design of a system for collection of dust in a NPK fertilizer plant.

The fact is that the airflow that this kind of equipment could produce is needed for the proper functioning of the system for collection of dust.

Other important features is the ambient temperature is up the sides of the 35 • C and the humidity of the atmosphere is about 80%, as moisture from the raw material is up the sides of this 35%, the temperature of raw material ranges between 40 and 50 • C, and the sizes of the particles of the incoming material are between 5 and 10mm, with an hourly production of 35 t / h, plus the size of the particle downstream is 2mm Approximately; material has high hygroscopic properties.

An early reply would be appreciated, thank you in advance for your cooperation.
