Hi

We are looking for a way of controlling carbon black dust. Is there a kind of compound or mixture of compounds that might minimize dust formation when added to the bulk of carbon black?

Thanks

Carbon Black Dust Control

Yes, there are numerous chemical compounds that could be added to carbon black to control dust. The specific class of compound would depend on the degree of dust control required and if that carbon black represented a feed source for another process. Benetech has been supplying chemical dust control agents for coal/coke dust for nearly 25 years. I would be please to discuss the specifics of your process and make recommendations.

Also i do need help to control carbon black dust, it is dumped by hand on a hoper and ofcourse i have a dust cloud.

My porcess is for rubber extrusion and for 1 ton product I use 200 kg of carbon black.

What kind of aditive can i use to keep as low the dust?

Dustron Ns - Carbon Black Dust

DUSTRON NS

De-dusting oil for Direct, Acid, Reactive – (V.S. base), Metal complex, disperse dyes. Because of lower surface tension, higher flash point and balanced HLB gives maximum efficient de-dusting effect on finer particles to co-aggulated which does not allow finer particles which are born at the time of un-loading the dyes in to dye – bath or at the time of packing & repacking.

Chemical Specification

(1)Physical Appearance :- Light Yellow.

(2)pH :-7.5

(3)Ionic Nature :- Non ionic / Anionic .

(4)Specific Gravity :- 0.8611

(5)Surface Tension of :-34.71 32.56 1% Solution

(6)Viscosity :- With 4 D Cup. - 22 sec.

(7)Flash Point :- 1900 C

(8)Solubility in Water :- Form emulsion.

(9)Stability in water :- Emulsion is stable for more

then 72 Hours.

(10)Dyeing condition :– for 60 Minute.

(i)Temp. Stability :-Stable up to 1300 C .

(ii)At 4.5 pH :-Stable.

(iii)At 11 pH :-Stable.

(iv)Filtration test :-No residue. (2/4 No. Filter Paper)

PRODUCT BASED ON OCTYL/NONYL PHENOL BASE EMULSIFIER.

Application:-

The product can not be used for Mono-Chloro Triazynyl and Dichloro Triazynyl type of reactive dyes because it has a free – OH group which is condense with active chloro group of reactive dyes hence the dyes shows reduction in strength on storage.

Dosage:–10 gm to 20 gm per Kg of Finish Dyes.

Method of Application:- In Blender Operation.

Precaution:- Do not use for Basic Dyes, Oil Soluble Dye, Solvent Dyes and Pigments.

The above information is given for guidance only and no warranty is given for the same.

Dust Stop is a proven solution that should prevent this problem. In the very near future all solutions will be required to be 100% Environmentally Friendly and Dust Stop is certified as such. For more information see www.cypherltd.com under Dust Stop and you may find your answer.

Dear Sir,

We have different types of de-dusting agents for various products as per industrial application.

Please send us the following details:

1. CI No. of Carbon Black

2. Particles Size of Carbon Black

3. End application of Carbon Black

4. Do you want aqueous base or oil based product

5. Is the any specific requirements for flash point, biodegradability & APEO free products

Just inform us how much quantity required sample for testing.

Thanks with regards

Local Exhaust

You can also design a local exhaust hood to control the dust at the source. The dust can be recycled back into the process in some cases.

Carbon black is a combustible dust however. There are various ways to handle that problem.

Carbon Black Dust Control

I would be greatly surprised if chemical adders to the black would be acceptable to the end user OR the producer of the carbon black. The formulations for the varying grades of black is VERY specific as to it's chemical makeup.

Depending on the end product being made with the black as a component, the level of contamination with other chemicals can be a critical issue.

Control of black dust is done in the manner and techniques of handling the black and is accomplished in the design of the handling equipment.

I have been handling carbon black for 40 years. I would be happy to help if you like.
