this stacker and reclaimer is designed by solidworks, and all main structures are bolted ,like bridge,stacker boom, center column. handrails, horrow, because the weather in exshaw in winter is very cold, it is very expensive for welding in winter,so for saving costs Lafarge ask us to redesign the stacker and reclaimer. only small bracket for elctrical supports can be welded on site.

Chilling Prospect.
If it is cold enough to exclude welding then it means that the pile will also be frozen. Please refer to a quite recent recent thread relating to problems with harrowing because I suspect similar problems will surface here. ■

It's Cold!
It's cold in Albert,Canada. The lowest temperature is about -40°C. But the material is limestone and it is very dry. So it won't be frozen.

The limestone is hygroscopic. So there is less water on the particle surface. The limestone particle will freeze inside. But the particles won't be frozen together tightly. The coal isn't hygroscopic. So coal particles will be frozen together tightly.
