- Swedish consortium acquires H.W. Carlsen products from Danish FL Smidth Materials Handling.

- H.W.Carlsen AB continues in already existing premises in Malmö.

- The product Ship Unloaders will remain with F L Smidth in Copenhagen

- H.W.Carlsen AB will take over responsibility for spare part supply to all existing self discharging ships

A Malmö based consortium has acquired all product- and other material rights for self discharging ships including both pneumatic and mechanical loading and unloading systems. The products will be marketed by H.W.Carlsen AB with head office in Malmö, Sweden and with the same address and telephone number as before.

Behind the buying consortium stands primarily the following persons all with a long experience of marine equipment and a solid background of developing and managing international operations

Chairman is Carl-Eric Hansson (65) a Naval Architect graduated from Chalmers University of Technology and with working experience as Marketing Director for HAGGLUNDS Marin Cargo handling Systems and as manager for a material handling company in the Swedish Johnson Group and also as manager for a company in the KOCKUM group with responsibility for global sales of spare parts.

Managing Director is Lennart Hedman (65) M Sc. Chalmers University of Technology has a long working experience from global marketing of marine products and systems and has been manager for a number of companies in Sweden, Japan and Korea.

The management team also includes Jan Wetterström (68) with many years experience of sales of self unloading systems and with a working experience as sales manager in HAGGLUNDS, in Nordströms Linbanor and BMH Marine.

H W Carlsens technical and administrative staff includes personnel with earlier background in the company before the takeover by FLS.

The acquisition includes all products and systems for self discharging ships both pneumatic and mechanical systems and floating terminals and the Carlsen developed technology with fluidised ship holds.

The H.W. Carlsen developed mechanical ship unloader is not included in the acquisition. This product will be handled by F.L Smidth Materials Handling in Copenhagen as before.

H.W. Carlsen AB has also taken over the responsibility for spare parts to existing ships equipped with H.W. Carlsen self discharging systems.
