Aerated Cement Flow

We have a hopper 2m dia x 2 m height with a conical bottom which is sloping at 30 degrees to the horizontal and which is fully aerated using polypropylene fabric + air.The hopper is filled with cement. The hopper outlet is 300mm dia and connects to a 500 mm dia horizontal screw conveyor running at 60 rpm. Can the experts tell us what rate of flow we can expect from the hopper to the screw?

Dear Velan.

if your cement has good fluidisation you could unload approx 100- to 200 m/h from cement sometimes up to 250m/h through a outlett diameter 300. The normal flow rate by free falling will be approxly 100-150m The screw you descript will transport approxly 100 m/h. So it´s normally necessary that the screw is climbing up between 5-10 °. Otherwise the material can overflow the screw. Also it will be good if there is a flat gate between hopper and screw ( one Hand and one pneumatic or motoral flat gate if no unloading is avaible. With the flat gate ( handwheel) you can dosate the material. The fluidisation must work with impuls. So make the fluidisation approx 5 sec. blowing and than 10-15 sec. pause. For erection cement you only need a small part of air. Be carefull with to much air !!!
