That's 760 deg C, which I reckon is "cherry red".

Maybe you should look at a high temperature cast iron. Make the cast flighting to slip over a water cooled shaft.

What are your TPH? If the screw is fairly large and the TPH small, you may not put much heat into the screw. This is common on some ash handling jobs.

Otherwise water cooled screws and troughs are common.

The TPH is only about 1.8. The auger itself is small and the trough is actually refractory lined. I would like to steer away from the water cooled screw.
