Vibrating Screen for Use in Limestone Circuit

Posted in: , on 23. Jun. 2009 - 21:25

hey i am an undergraduate ENGINEERING student working on a project

"TO INCREASE THE MEAN TIME BETWEEN FAILURE OF DOUBLE DECK SCREEN USED IN LIMESTONE CIRCUIT FROM 3 TO 7 DAYS"

i am looking forward for probable reasons & solution which i could apply there.

i am working on a TRF screen (vibro pulse circular throw) installed in limestone circuit for refining limestone.

we use +25 & -80 screen cloth size at bottom n top deck respectively.

OF LATE THE ,MAJOR FAILURE MODES ARE

SCREEN CLOTH DAMAGE(BOTTOM DECK MAINLY)

TENSION SKIRT PLATE DAMAGE

CENTRE PLATE DAMAGE

BEARING DAMAGE.

PLEASE HELP ME IN THE MATTER & WHAT ALL TO INCLUDE IN TO FIND ROOT CAUSE OF PROBLEM & ALSO THE SOLUTION TO IT.

screen working on -500 tons/hour.

screen recommended speed - 660 rpm.

stroke - 1/2"

on project i want the reasons for the failure to describe in the project.

what troubleshooting technique should i use to get on the right reason for the failure.

any reference material available???????

we need more information; first look to see how much product the screen is actually getting and get some stroke cards which are downloadable here- type stroke check cards in the forum search box.

you have a bigger problem than just the screener.

Damage To Screen Cloth

Posted on 24. Jun. 2009 - 06:28

many reasons for possible screen cloth damage on bottom deck, usually the finer opening and most susceptible to damage.

- may not be tight enough, usual problem, will vibrate apart and rip

- hooks may not be proper design to hold wirecloth actually IN THE METAL HOOKED EDGE, MAY pull out of hook upon tensioning

- tension plate damage? i assume this is the metal hooked edge.....if so, the angle of the engaging edge of the tension plate.......MUST be at the wrong angle and may not be engaging the "SEAT" of the bent edge and this will damage the tension plate and cause the wirecloth to be damaged more quickly

- centre plate damage? do you have a hold down plate?

- bearing damage....hmmmmm, too fast, too slow, wrong lube, running too hot, no expansion side in design, bearings too small for weight, bearings being pulled on drive side due to overtight belts, many other possibilities.
