Detection of radioactive material in (bulk) scrap material can be done by devices attached to your grabs and through detection ports where trucks do pass.

Are there any electronic devices in detecting explosive materials on board of the vessel?

Or is there an other way of inspecting scrap on explosive contamination?

Explosives.

dear friend.

Electric arch furnaces melting scrap are faced with this same problem.

when using war spoils or suroplus material as feedstock, frequently we used to find unexploted shells in the scrap yard, sometimes they found their way into the furnace.

Our solution was simple pay a premius to hoever finds a piece of unexploted ordenance.

unfortunately Not a technical solution,

I believe a sniffer for aromatic nitogen components has been used for that purpose .

it might not be applicable with shell contained explosives.
