Hi all,

Does anybody know of a UK based body that can service roatary valves? These are used as blowing seals (basically on the bottom / top of a silo with pneumatic conveying) and I'm concerned about clearances, leakage air, etc.

It sounds very much like you are expecting more from the valve that it is designed to do.

If you give me the make, size and type of the units with operating temperature and pressure I could probibly assist you.

Please also elaborate on the problem experienced.

About Maintenance Of Rotary Valve

Hi everybody!

I have a lot of troubles with this rotary valves, because of its manufacturing, we have to modify everything in this valve:

- Surfacing the casing

- Surfacing the wheel

- Adding some slice of rubber to airtight, hold by bolt

- Changing the seal by felt

- facing the flanges

... i.e. We made a new rotary valve...

Now it's better, because there's not leakage of material...

All of this was necessary because we have an aplication before a belt feeder, and we need a even material flow and control.

Anybody have troubles like this?

If you are using the rotary valve to feed from an overhead hopper then a SEAL LEG may be your best option for reliability and product flow. This will depend on the materials of course.

Knowledge , is simply what is waiting to be discovered and used.

The operating principles of a rotary valve/feeder/air lock or what ever you want to call them is quite simple. The permutations of configurations that are available are necessary to suite the exact environment, operation, material handled and required usage.

If you incorrectly specify the unit or worst still buy one solely on its sizes and capacity you will live to regret every operating moment of it. Off the shelf, one size fits all solutions bring grief.

Reputable suppliers will choose the correct configuration of your unit to suit your exact requirements for operation with no problems.
