Energy-effectiveness. “Planetary ball mill” of the continuous action

Gentlemen!

There are several methods of ultrafine grinding.

There are several criteria in order to compare these methods between themselves.

Energy-effectiveness is one of the criteria of comparison (or specific power consumption).

It is necessary to grind identical material at the different mills in the open cycle (!), so that the estimations would be correct.

Quartz sand is the best for the tests material. It there is everywhere! The content of SiO2 and initial coarseness will not strongly affect the eventual result (+ 10%), because the basic portion of energy is expended on obtaining of the particles I lead an example of the calculation of specific power consumption for the “Planetary ball mill” of the continuous action of the Group of Leotec Companies.

The condition is accepted with the calculation - entire energy during the crushing is expended on the class of coarseness interesting.

Thus;

1.We grind quartz sand. Content of SiO2 - 94%. F80=0.4mm.

2.True productivity - 1084 kg/h.

3.Actual power consumption - 25.6kW/h.

We sift the test of the ground sand through the sieve 200 um, for the more correct measurements on the laser analyzer of particles. We obtain 82, 55 %< of 200 um (894, 84 kg/h according to the class < 200 um).

We study lower class in the laser analyzer of particles. Report is located in the attached file.

We see from the report that 59% < 20 um. Productivity according to this class of coarseness there will be 894,84kg/h x 0, 59 = 527, 96 kg/h. Power consumption to obtaining of the class 100% < 20 um – is 48,5kW/t (without taking into account classification).

More thorough calculation power consumption will give result still better (especially for the ultra fine particles). Similarly it is possible to calculate from any class of coarseness interesting;

48,5 kW/t < 20 um

79 kW/t < 10 um

125 kW/t < 5 um

209 kW/t < 2.6 um

923 kW/t < 1 um

There are other criteria of evaluation - reliability, the expenditure of the worn out elements, weight, noise, a vibration, a mobility and so forth. But specific power consumption is one of the main parameters.
