Pull Out Ash from Economizer

We have to pull out ash / 1 tonne per hour / from economizer. There are burned chemicals from wood processing. The ash is transported by augers to brine tank. The problem is that moisture from the leach liquor enters the auger and hardens ash. The combustion process suck moisture. Augers block. Can not remove debris. I can send pictures.

With a screw pump or pneumatic transport can be solved entry of moisture in the exhaust system?

Please for support from specialists, solving such problems.

Dear Neval,

Whether a pneumatic conveying system can solve your problems cannot be decided from your description.

It is well understood that pneumatic conveying and moisture is not a working combination.

For pneumatic conveying, it is required to condition the ash to conveyable properties.

Do not forget to modify the receiving bin with filters.

Hello Neval

Have you thought about installing a double tipping valve (pneumatic or manual) to keep the dry areas dry and the wet areas wet? I am not sure a rotary valve would work in this case but with the proper lining it might, still think you are better with the double tipping valve. You will need some vertical distance to get the valve in but it should work. A lined valve (Tivar, natural rubber or some other non stick material) with rounded corners to prevent ash from sticking.

If you decide to use pneumatic transport you still need to separate your product from the transport air then you need to ensure that the air does not have moisture or the problem will end up plugging your separator. You would still need a rotary or tipping valve. Pneumatic transport always costs more money to operate than conveying

Good Luck
