For information on venturi eductors for feeding pneumatic conveying system pipelines try the Fox Valve Development Corp at www.foxvalve.com. Contact Steve Westaway, he did an MPhil research programme on venturis at Thames Polytechnic (now the University of Greenwich). They do have experience with the conveying of pulverised coal. Pulverised coal is abrasive and so you will require a wear resistant liner. Do recall that the conveying line pressure drop will be limited to a maximum of about 0.4 bar and you will need a means of controlling the feed rate of pulverised coal into the venturi. A positive displacement blower would be recommended for the air supply.

For pneumatic conveying venturies are generally used for small capacities and short distances because of the limited pressure that they can generate. In addition they are very poor users of energy. I would suggest that if you have large conveying rates ( greater than 5000 lbs/hr) and conveying distances longer than 50 ft you consider using standard pd type blowers for providing the conveying pressure.

Other factors such as erosion are common to whether a venture is used or a pd blower is used.

For venturies, in addition to Fox, another vendor you may consider is Cyclonaire.
