Dear Sirs,

I Joined the Forum Yesterday ,

I need to transfer Cement and Flyash by Pneumatic Conveying , capacity will be 80 Ton Per Hour and distance will be 3000 Mts.

Could you please guide me in selection of proper System to meet the requirement. also guide on Critical design parameters to be followed .

Can any one suggest the name of the Companies who can do this for us in india.

Dear Subbs

Pneumatically conveying 80 tons/hr of fly ash over a distance of 3 km is not an everyday issue.

Using 3 pneumatic bulk trucks will also perform the job against a lower investment.

If the fly ash is conveyed 24 hrs/day – 7 days/week, then a pneumatic system could be feasible.

A quick design calculation showed that a pneumatic conveying installation, consisting of:

-2 kettle system, each kettle 25 m3 volume and 20m3 fly ash content.

-Pipe size 16”/18”

- 2950 m horizontal

- 50 m vertical

- 10 bends

-175 m3/min compressor displacement.

performs:

-121 tons/hr pipeline capacity at 1.5 bar

-94 tons/hr system capacity at 1.5 bar

(Calculations at sea level)

Consult the well-known companies for a quotation, rather than making your own installation and run the risk of going an expensive learning curve.

Take care

Dear Subbu,

The transportation of 80 tons of fly ash per hr over a distance of 3 km is worthwhile to be investigated for various forms of transport.

Assuming that the material flow of 80 tons/hr is 24 hrs/day and 7 days/week (1920 tons/day, 13440 tons/week, 698.880 tons/year), a continuous or semi continuous system is required.

The options are:

-Bulk trucks

-Rail wagons (bulk or pneumatic)

-Belt conveyor (covered)

-Pipe conveyor

-Pneumatic system

For each solution, a preliminary design should be made and subsequently an economic feasibility study should make clear which system is to be preferred.

Although pneumatically conveying fly ash over a distance of 3 km is not often done, it seems possible to be a feasible option.

Ask well known companies for a preliminary design with price indication.

Success
