Conveying Fragile Agglomerated Material

Help and Suggestions Required for Conveying a Fragile Agglomerated Material.

Hello All,

This issue may have already been answered, but i was not able to find anything on search. So I would definitely welcome any help or suggestions on my problem.

I have a Granulated/Agglomerated material having a bulk density between 0.7 to 1.2 g/cc and quite friable. This material needs to be conveyed to a blender opening which resides at a minimum height 10 meters from the ground level.

Currently I am using a Pneumatic Vacumn Transfer Machine, but due to the constant agitation it is causing me a high attrition rate. Also the motor used in the root blower is 5HP which is quite a heavy electrical consumption considering a continous operation.

I am looking for a easy and economical powder transfer system which is easy to clean and economical to run.

I did a little homework and found that a Venturi Eductor would suit my application. http://www.nucon.com/en/additional-e...turi-eductors/

This is for a clean room pharmaceutical application so MOC will have to be SS 316.

Please do let me know if you have any other suggestions. Your inputs on eductor transfer is also welcomed.

Best Regards,

Dr. Rohan Sequeira

Dear Dr. Rohan Sequeira

The problems you are experiencing could be caused by an improper pneumatic design with a too high velocity.

A vacuum system needs to run always at maximum vacuum to keep the velocities at a minimum.

(Lower vacuum means a higher velocity, due to the characteristics of the positive displacement blower in a vacuum system)

A calculation of the existing installation can show, whether the design and the operation is optimum.

If you can supply the relative data, then a calculation can be made.

Although the motor is 5 kW, it does not necessarily mean the full power is used.

Have a look at: http://www.cablevey.com/

Could be a good alternative for you.
