AVA High Temperature Reactor/Dryer for the Chemical Industry
The demands of the chemical industry for extreme process conditions in driers and reactors are increasing steadily. When products have to be heated indirectly, i.e. through contact with the heated vessel walls, the maximum heating temperature currently achievable with thermal oil is about 400°C. For some applications this is still not sufficient.
In cooperation with a major chemicals group AVA has designed a high temperature reactor/drier for heating temperatures up to 600°C. This is achieved with special electric heating pads wrapped around the drum. The tailor made heating elements with redundant heating circuits provide an even and controlled heat transfer. The AVA drier/reactor is a completely closed system that can be operated under vacuum or under pressure. Apart from the heating the agitator bearing and sealing and the dryer’s insulation presented further major challenges. Both systems have to cope with the different thermal expansion of drum and agitator.
