Development projects in Brazil, Peru, Australia, and Japan

TAIM WESER is currently executing a large number of projects through its materials handling business unit. These include the installation and transport of iron ore for the Super Porto Sudeste, a new port terminal for the export of iron ore that is being built in Sepetiba Bay, in Itagua, Brazil. This equipment will consist, on the one hand, of a full belt conveyor system with a capacity of 12,000 t/h and a total length of 13,000 m, that will cover all of the stages from reception up to its loading onto ships, including all the conveyors for the two storage stockyards; and on the other, of four combined stacker-reclaimer machines, with a stacking capacity of 10,000 t/h and a capacity for reclaiming of 12,000 t/h, which will be installed in the two new iron ore storage yards. The project is currently in the assembly phase and is progressing according to plan.

Also in South America, the Spanish company is working on 2 linked projects for the new Port Terminal for the loading and export of ore concentrated (copper, zinc, and lead) in the Port of Callao, in Peru.

The first project consists of a system of reception, storage and sending to the Open Access (OA) point for the ore concentrate that the mining company exports through the terminal. This project includes a system for receiving and filling the ore storage area, as well as the corresponding conveying system for sending the material to the Port Terminal’s OA point. The equipment consists of belt conveyors, trippers, and belt feeders with capacities ranging from 600 t/h to 2,400 t/h that have been designed to guarantee safety in terms of environmental protection as well as in the conveying process.

The second project includes the complete loading system for the export operations of these ores. It consists of a system of belt conveyors with a capacity of 2,500 t/h that runs to the dock, where a loading gallery and a rail-mounted shiploader, with a capacity of 2,500 t/h for ships of up to 60,000 DWT, are going to be supplied also by TAIM WESER.

The entire system is designed to comply strictly with environmental standards, so it is equipped with the corresponding systems for materials cleaning and collecting and reducing dust, on both belt conveyors as well as in the shiploader. The installation is planned to go into operation in mid 2014.

Other projects on which the company is currently working include: a shiploader for fertilizer carriers in Australia, a set of 6 combination stacker-reclaimers for iron ore in the Middle East, a belt conveying system for handling petroleum coke in a Refinery in Turkey and a new Port Terminal in Japan.
